Bucheon City Recommend Railroad Hero as a Special Guest at Inauguration 2013

Bucheon City recommended Hangkyun Kim, the chief of Yeokgok Station, who is called ‘the Railroad Hero’, as a special guest at 18th President’s Inauguration on Feb. 25th 2013. He lives in Joong-4-dong, Bucheon City, South Korea.

He saved a child on the railroad in Yeongdeungpo Station but lost his two feet hit by a train in 2003. After that accident, he got back to his job only in one year. He showed an example of self-sacrifice and an iron will of rehabilitation.

He has tried to help other people for several years after that accident. He invited 1,620 children to free train trips to see the New Year sunrise at Jeongdongjin Station every January. And he shared 4,400 kg of rice with neighbors who live alone and are too old to work.
