Bucheon Citizen Vote for The Book of The Year
Bucheon City Library announced to get a recommendation for book candidates of the year from Bucheon citizens until March 11th, 2013.
The library will select each a book of the year in 4 categories of books which are books for children, for teenagers, for adults, and cartoons, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of becoming a city of Bucheon.
Every citizen can recommend book candidates of the year through visiting a recent library in Bucheon City or accessing the bulletin board in the website of Bucheon Library, http://www.bcl.go.kr. The Selecting Committee for The Book of The Year will review the recommendations from citizens to narrow down the candidates and finally select the books of the year through citizens' voting and second reviewing of the committee.
The library made a plan to promote the books of the year, such as hosting the writer's speech, the book concerts, and discussion events about the books. Also the library will distribute the books to all over the libraries and city offices in Bucheon City.
This is the 6th event, selecting the books of the year. The books of Year 2012 were 'The Youth, Because You're Hurt' written by Nando Kim, a professor from Seoul National University, 'Stroll Woods of Literature' by the late professor Younghee Jang from Seokang University, and 'A No Whispering Zone" by a writer Sunhee Kim. Last year 8,689 citizens took part in the selection event and recommended 7,071 books for the books of the year.
